Intention

Early in our careers the design concept is the project's guiding light; which still holds true in most cases. However, through years of experience in life as well as in design, I have tailored it to a step before the concept.  The INTENTION.  What is it we want to achieve?  What is it we want to create?

I am a big believer in taking the time and space to listen and understand what is happening around us.  So let's take time and space to think about what we are trying to achieve.  What is the function for this space, what is the feeling we want to create, how do we see ourselves using the environment and how can we make it better.   How can we help you create something you didn't even expect?

Authenticity

What makes us feel the best version of ourselves?  What do we all strive for at the end of the day?   The opportunity to express our most authentic self.  So each project and each space should be its own. A reflection of the homeowner or the family it belongs to.  Yes, we are here to provide our professional expertise to the project; to ensure basic design principles are guiding us along the way and ensuring the process works and it looks photoshoot ready.  But the objects, the art, the items gathered, the color palette and the spirit the space invokes should be that of the client and presented in the most genuine and creative way.

So let's forget about the trends, what our friends or neighbors have and create something that is yours.  What have you collected along the way, what books do you love, what are the stories you have lived, and what makes you happy?  Magic and beauty comes out of authenticity.

Wellness and Harmony

The value of function can not be understated, if it doesn't work or function for the individuals using it, we have missed the mark.  Ensuring that the design fulfills the human needs as they move, work, and live through the environment is fundamental and all part of wellness in the space.

The wellness and harmony we strive for is ensuring the exterior speaks with the interiors, there is a marriage between spaces and items in the space.  Things don't have to be matching but should relate to each other in some organic way.   Textures, scale, colors, furniture, and materials should work together.  Allowing light to flow through spaces, creating function and beauty as we plan. We can not compete with Mother Nature but we can learn a lot from Her ways.

Artistic Beauty and Emotion

Last, but not least we are left with a space that is truly beautiful. Something that can be felt and inspire others. Like any artform something is envoked within; that when you take it in or you move through it -  It feels special.  It can be dark & moody,  calm & meditative, fun & stimulating, dynamic and creative ... your senses and emotions are touched and you experience the environment around you.   All the thought, the creative hands and artisans, the character, and the artistry of it all coming together is palpable.

“The beauty and reward in Design is you get to create a space that provides peace for your client as a gift for them… and in return that process becomes a gift for you.”
